Im really loving the overall sound of the album from the 5 tracks that have been released do far. I think when you play the album from start to finish it's definately going to have one of those "album" feels rather than a compilation of songs put together. People over on FDB have described the songs as have a film soundtrack feel to them and I think that really does sum it up. The album is going to be a nice little treat, im hoping my pre-order from Amazon will arrive on the day so that that I can listen to 20 times before I go to him at Norwich UEA that night!
Favourite songs in order so far are:
Lady Don't Fall Backwards.
Im really glad they kept this one really simple=
New Love Grows On Trees.
I much prefer this to the demo as I was never too fussed with the demos before, loving the atmosphere being created in the background.
Last Of The English Roses.
The vocals on this one are really great and I like the guitars. I also think the production is rather good and glad they didn't leave it stripped down. I prefer the album version to the Late Late show one, though he's voice sounded great on the tv and it's really nice to have two different versions you can go back to like with Beg, Steal Or Borrow, which is a favourite of mine both on the e.p. and the Jonathan Ross show.
Broken Love Song
I don't think much of the lyrics untill it gets to the part about being in he's cell and then it gets really great, but it does seem like lyrically two songs with the "take a broken love song..."and first "loneliest" part not seem to fit with the rest. I still think Pete could have got a better vocal part laid down too, but still is a brilliant song.
A Little Death Around The Eyes
The music to this is fantastic and really seems to fit in from what i've heard from the rest of the album. I've never quite rated the demo version and was hoping for added lyrics as it really only has one verse. Was a bit disapointed that "fi fye fo fum..." has been rehashed as that was in Sticks and Stones.
I really can't wait for the album to wait as I now have even higher hopes for the other songs than I did before hearing these five! Roll on Arcady, 1939 Returning, Salome and Sweet By and By!

Another link here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0TWZMZU3
That one i've just uploaded myself, the other I managed to get off FDB during the 5 mins before it was taken off so credit has to go to McFearless for that one. _________________ If you take it all away there's a pile of everything you never wanted aint it just too bad, never wanted it so bad.
