Sorry if you have answered this before, but i remember that you asked the management permision to record this. Did they agree? And does that mean they will let you record future shambles gigs? |
I asked them, and they said that they were recording Shambles gigs wherever possible, but they'd be in touch if there was an oppoortunity in the future. It was a kind of 'don't call us, we'll (not) call you' kind of thing.
I'm hoping to record future shows (although it will more than likely have to be done on the sly). I doubt they'd bother to record shows at places like the Woodberry Tavern, so hopefully if I get a bit of notice I might get to a few smaller shindigs.

I've only asked a couple of folks for permission to record other than Shambles (I asked my pal Zoe who manages Nebraska, and I asked my pal Chris if I could record him and his mob). There's no real culture of taping over here, so alot of bands probably won't have anything to do with official taping - mind you, someone always manages to get a minidisc recorder or something in.
One thing to bear in mind before choosing a recorder is that I've heard alot about the input jack sockets on the R09 breaking really easily... mine is OK, but I've only used the thing once. Taperssection is the perfect place to find out the pros and cons of various recorders before shelling out any money - and you can always check the quality of different recorders and mics by looking at different shows that are on the live music archive (www.archive.org) - that's what I did before getting all my kit, and I have to say that I'm well happy with the results!
