Much love to Monsieur Heavyhorse, big up Babybear and all at the Rhythm Factory, innit.

Another ace few nights... gutted to have only got one on tape but there ya go. Good seeing so many familiar faces, as always. Met sooooo many people since moving to the big smoke, and all lovely. Good times! My poor aching liver! Oh the pain, the terrible pain!

Until next time, y'all.

Oh, the irony.

Pretty cool to see he played Ha Ha Wall, don't think I've ever heard it live.

Pretty standard thing to put in the info file of a recorded show, that. People should buy all the CDs, records, singles, tickets and T-shirts they can get their mitts on. Maybe people hearing a live show recording will go out and buy tickets for shows they wouldn't otherwise go to. Hence more money for Pete and the band.

No money lost here, no irony.

And yeah, Ha Ha Wall was rather good!

Maybe you are losing the band money, as it is illegal.

NO IT ISN'T
Quadrophenia

So tell me why you're not allowed your equipment into the gig then?

Because of the venues more than the bands. It's a standard disclaimer on tickets that 'no professional audio or video equipment is allowed'... that's because venues charge bands when proper, official recordings are made that are intended to be sold.

I've taped in places before where I've had to sign paperwork to the effect that the recording is not going to be sold, or that it's for personal use only, that sort of thing. It's usually the case in big venues (like when I taped at the Shepherd's Bush Empire) or really corporate places like the Carling Academy venues.

Sneaking the gear in just means less hassle, is all. I'll try to get proper formal permission next time Pete plays the RF, because hopefully by then I'll have my new recorder, new mics, etc etc and I'll *hopefully* be plugging into the soundboard.
Rich

That sounds about right it's the venues not the bands. Alot of bands encourage it, brian jonestown massacre for example.

I'm not slating you, I downloaded it and it sounds great. I was just curious as I always assumed it was illegal. Also, on the assumption that you are giving away these bootlegs on numerous message boards, have you ever caught anyone selling your bootlegs on ebay?
Rich

Yeah he caught somebody selling his pete and carl one on ebay, he reported them to ebay if I remember right.

Yeah, as Neeshambles said. The Hackney one went up pretty quickly on eBay, so I reported it, as well as emailing people bidding on it to tell them where to get it free. Sent a few copies out to people myself instead of them having to pay for a CD burned from an mp3. Pain in the arse, it was.

Cheers Powermonkey, another cracking download. Thats my evening sorted.

Do you have to check ebay every time you put up a bootleg? Surely that must be a real annoyance?

It is annoying, yes. C'est la vie... when bands turn around and say 'why do you want to record us? Are you a bootlegger?' us tapers need to be able to show that we're not. One way to do that is to show them how tapers help by pointing out bootleggers on eBay (and on other sites) and working together to fuck them over.

I really appreciate the efforts!
