Welcome. We've been expecting you for quite some time now. Please take a seat. The others will be with us shortly!
the shambolian

Not really.
Still haven't made it to one of thier gigs which i am shamefull for
pusherman

You get better and better as the days go by!
the shambolian

I know, you love it.
Things like that will be easier when I can drive.
But untill then, im not going on a train for hours, to see a band proberbly not turn up
Quadrophenia

Still listen to the music, dont listen to the libertines at all anymore for some reason. Dont rate pete too highly though
Quadrophenia

Actually someone put on the song Up the Bracket at a house party once and at the bit where Pete screams, my mate thought it was someone being sick so he ran in with a bucket
love junkie jim

to be honest, there should be many a popular vote for this on the url, www.lostinterestintheshambles.me.uk, however you'd have to have a decent amount of spare time to be posting this thought on an actual babyshambles forum. but each to their own
pusherman

It's people like you who place Mr. Doherty under the utter misapprehension that he still has talent. Shame on you!

Im just here for some of the people and the general banter, I usually know of any "news" before it hits this forum. Not that its musical news, just that Petes been jailed, seen in London etc.

Shocked

I agree Pete is a prick who has ruined his life and the lives of some of those closest to him, but if you believe he is talentless, you're either taking the piss or are a Sun subscriber. My apologies if it's the first, but if it's the second, why the fark are you on a Babyshambles forum with more then 2000 posts?

By the way, I too have lost interest in Babyshambles. Only have 4-5 of their songs on my iPod.
pusherman

Well I am partial to a bit of George & Lynne.

The new album is ok, was good in the first few weeks but it's tiring on me. Its made up of songs that have been kicking about for years and middle of the road dross i.e side of the road.
pale thin boy

i'm sorry for posting this topic, but i can on here to catch up with what had been going on, maybe hoping to find some new demos or something. but i can't remember the last time a pete/shambles song done it for me. DIA is great & always will be. i played it to death, my own fauly. but SN does nothing for me, Pete is a mess 7 so is his career, mick doesn't cut it as a musician in my opinion either........................ah rant over, sorry folks. i'm just gonna head off until they bring out the great album they were once capble of (see you in a week! ha i can't help myself, old habits)............Ryan Adams & the Cardinals
the shambolian

I seem like one of the only ones who thinks Mick isn't all that bad?
Ricky Foley

I prefer Mick over Patrick personally, so your not the only one Shambolian...
Quadrophenia

Mick is boring, brings nothing to the table and you could pick any mediocre guitarist out for Babyshambles and it could be him. I could say he created I Wish, but the lyrics are all stolen vertbatim. When he started playing live he could barely manage Pipedown which is the easiest riff ever in my opinion
Ricky Foley

I just think Mick helps keep the Babyshambles unit more stable and gels better with the rythmn section.
Baddies Boogie is a great riff and I just much prefer listen to Shotter's Nation and The Blinding than Down In Albion. I was never really a fan of Pat Walden's style to begin with to be honest.
Jason

I thought they broke up to be perfectly honest....they are no longer remotely interesting, although I do like a few songs on the odd occasion I probably wouldn't go see them live again, nor spend my time intentionally listening to their records....but if comes on when my itunes is on shuffle, I probably won't skip it.

Again, not made by him.
powermonkey

I've been listening to DiA today, initially to see if my earphones were working properly again (because I know that mix like the back of my hand). Then I listened to Shotter's Nation.

DiA is superb, I won't bore you all silly with my opinions of that one again (you all remember, classic, one of the greatest albums ever made, etc etc etc).

Shotter's Nation is painfully, woefully underrated. It's fucking great. Yes, it's different, because DiA has the most awesome careering, screeching, mental guitar playing. Shotters is more commercial. But still, it's a fucking great album, with some of the absolute high points of Peter's career (including Libs, and solo). Deft Left Hand, for instance, starts off anthemic and ends up going to a whole different place. It's magnificent.

Fuck it, I'll just get dismissed as a fanboy. Don't care. If it was shit I'd say it was shit, but it's fucking great so I'll make do with that, instead.
shambles baby

i don't go over to my cd's intending to pick something out anymore but i do look out for stuff, news and shit  and i still seem to find myself sticking up for them every now and then, whether i honestly agree or not. For me, i don't think they'll ever be one of those bands that you hold on to forever, in about 10 years or probably less i will have forgotten about that kind of charm pete had about him once and the statisfaction of knowing when others were wasting their time slating him/them, i was sat at home singing along to songs that i loved and that made me really happy

I do. I fucking do.

TIGER

To be honest, I regret ever liking Babyshambles to be honest. Confused Whenever someone asks me parents what type of music I listen to, they say Babyshambles which is just embarrassing!

I'm finally going to settle my opinion on the band, and the music in this post.

Down In Albion was good record, it has some good tracks on it. In fact, I could probably listen to them all if I wanted, but they're just not interesting enough to keep my ears fixed. Right now I'm listening to Sitar Folks - Peter Bjorn & John, which is alot more interesting than DIA. It's a good record, just not a great one.

I've got most of the tracks from Shotter's Nation, and they're all just boring. It sounds like Blur but shitter. Every song sounds the same to me. Meh, I guess I just didn't like the band by the time it came out. They should've realised it earlier, and seen as some of the tracks were already penned by the time Down In Albion had even started being recorded, there's no excuse for the delay.

Babyshambles are a bad band.
Stewart

Id never get a band tattoo as there are plenty bands ive liked and gone off over the years. I still like babyshambles, but they are way down on the list of what i listen to these days and i honestly cant remember the last time i listened to them or the libs.

i'm really sorry to hear that.

and also, to comment on stewarts post (and please dont take this as me being smug) but i have a led zeppelin tattoo. it doesn't say the bands name, its one of their symbols, and i dont regret it and hopefully i never will. in my opinion, they're a timeless band, whereas a band like shambles tend to be a more short term fashion fad thing.

maybe in a few years, you could get it covered over with something else.

i doubt even if powermonkey did regret his that he'd admit it though. sorry john  Very Happy

Ross, what did you get done?

Babyshambles on my arm. They're still my favourite band, but Pete doesn't cut it for me anymore, he's not cool or anything, just another junkie knob. At least PM can say that the wee dog thing is something else. I'm not too proud to admit it or anything - it was a stupid decision. I want it covered up and turned into something else.

yeah, thats why I wondered if it was the dog. I'm sure they can disguise it into something else

Hell no, and I'm planning another.

I can't describe it, there's something about that band that effects me like no other band I've ever seen. The albums, the gigs, the wonderful people I've met, the whole thing.

Each to their own... I hope that one of these days the Shambles will bring out a single or an album that'll get you all back on board. If not, c'est la vie... I wouldn't trade the times the Shambles have given me for anything in the world.

Very Happy
Rich

Are you still going to get the deft left hand one or have you it already?

Was thinking about 'A little dream of mine', then it was 'last night I dreamt we'd never grow old, we cast our dreams in solid gold'. Bit wordy that, though.

Might sack it off and get a Nebraska tattoo instead!

I agree with this. I've got Slash's autograph tattooed on my arm from when I met him and he signed my arm. I don't think I'll ever regret it because it's a good memory and he's been my hero since I was six years old. The only reason I would ever regret it was if he did a gary glitter. Even if every album he releases from now until forever is completely shit, Appetite for Destruction will always be a classic.

Woah! Never mind Peter... Slash is WAY COOL.

Cool
